Our 2015 “Secret Garden” Calendar is dedicated to our latest “Ambassadors of Conservation,” the young white lions, Timba Masai, Madiba and Freedom. Lions in Africa are at a crisis point, with less than 25,000 left in the wild and they are extinct in 26 countries. Your purchase of this calendar will help Siegfried & Roy/’s SARMOTI Foundation support programs that are proven effective in preserving and protecting lions in the wild so they can be enjoyed by generations to come.
Dear friends and fans,
At this time of Thanksgiving we pause
to count our blessings……
The love of Family and Friends.
The Freedom of this great
Country in which we live.
The precious animals with whom we share the Planet.
For all of these things
we are deeply thankful.
Our best wishes for a
Happy & Magical Thanksgiving!
Early on the morning of November 12, 2014 our Peruvian alpaca “Bella” gave Siegfried & Roy an early Thanksgiving gift in the form of a baby girl, named “Hallelujah Espresso”. We thought it was best to give her a little coat to wear to keep her warm. The photo here with was taken about five hours after her birth; she is talkative and very friendly. This is “Bella’s” first baby and happily she is being a very good mother. This birth brings the number of Siegfried & Roy’s alpaca family to seven. Siegfried & Roy send their Magical SARMOTI Greetings to you and your family for a very Happy Thanksgiving!
With sadness we have to ask you one more time to join us in mourning the passing of another dear friend, Joan Rivers. The circle gets smaller and smaller. She had courage and ambition – she was elegant and graceful, and she had a mouth liked a truck driver!
Her wit was so quick – her instant reply was directed right at you. It didn’t matter if you were a Friend or just an Associate, she would come straight at you! Her clever dialogue made her the “Queen of Comedy”.
As you can see by the photo – circa early 1970’s – we go way back. When she saw my moustache, she commented that it was old fashioned – she said, “Errol
Flynn is gone!” – so I shaved it off at her advice. She was part of our early NBC Television special – she performed as a magician’s assistant and became part of our awards show during which we sawed her in half! You saw how well we put her back together….
You hear about appearances for the President at The White House or at The Palace for the Queen but when you get the request for a command performance from the Man Upstairs, no one can say “No” – sorry, Joan. It is our loss, but they need entertainment up there too, so when I hear an Angel laugh I will know you are doing your job. Humor is needed to take off the pressure from the tumult on Earth.
You WERE the red carpet – without you the red carpet is nothing. You are elite in the Women of Comedy – you were a great teacher. What will all of the protégés do now – “Can we talk?”
We treasure our memories of unforgettable you –
Love, Hugs and Kisses
From your Magical Friends in Las Vegas,
Dear Friends & Fans,
We are reaching out to you on behalf of the Friends for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department K-9 Unit as their annual fundraiser draws near on October 19, 2014. This specialized group made up of two- and four-legged officers plays an extremely special role in our community. K9s and their partners are attached at the heart, not just at the end of a leash.
These dogs are highly trained and skilled. Together with their Officer partner, they are invaluable and intimidating protectors of our community. As our Valley has grown, crime has escalated, necessitating additional law enforcement presence. The capabilities that the K-9s bring to the job cannot be replicated by man or machine – truly making them heroes.
Even though these K9s are considered Police Service Dogs, there is no insurance stipulated for their long-term medical needs upon retirement; therefore the officers are solely responsible for the health and well-being of their retired companions. This has been an especially tough year with many dogs retiring and suffering from work-related disabilities and even something as unusual as a killer bee attack that injured three dogs and took the life of a fourth, all belonging to the same Officer.
We hope that we can count on you to join us in supporting these amazing men, women and their special partners who have given so much and asked for so little in return.
If you would like to make a tax deductible donation, to assist with the organization, you may do so by credit card by going to their website:
Siegfried & Roy
Dear Fans and Friends of ours and of the great Robin Williams,
We send our deepest sympathy to all of you who are mourning his loss… The world has lost a Giant. He took the time to entertain us all and could make us laugh as well as bring us to tears; the only thing he couldn’t do was take the time to pamper and take care of himself – that is the heartbreaker.
Siegfried and I remember him well, one of our favorite visits happened on a trip to Los Angeles when we went to meet with DreamWorks regarding our animated series “Father of the Pride”. Suddenly a golf cart appeared and Steven Spielberg said, “Come on Guys” and took us to the set of the movie “Hook” where Robin was rehearsing his role as Peter Pan along with Dustin Hoffman as Capt. Hook and Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell – unfortunately we just missed Julia Roberts, but we did see Robin and Dustin. Also involved in the project was the brilliant stage designer that did our Mirage show, John Napier.
He also visited our show several times, memorably on my 50th birthday (see photo). As he came upstairs to our apartment he made the comment “I see Whoopi Goldberg was here before me and loaned you her hairstyle”. He also complimented us regarding the show saying “It never gets old; every time I see it, it looks new”.
Steven Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw were also in attendance and I took them into my bedroom where there was a White Tiger and an Asian Leopard there with whom I meditated each night before the second show.
Steven Spielberg said to me with a big smile, “Thank you for bringing Indiana Jones to life right in front of us”.
One time when we saw Robin Siegfried looked at him and asked “Is there something wrong with you? Did you not like the show?” Robin replied, “No I loved it I’m just having one of those days.” Siegfried said, “I think that all of us in the entertainment business battle demons – I know I do. It comes from the pressure that you put on yourself that each show must be better than the previous one. I go through it all the time, but I licked mine when I went to Puerto Rico – away from everything – now I am myself again.”
Robin would also imitate our German accents yelling “Yavol” when he saw us. Siegfried told him that when we came to America we did not have accents – we picked them up at the airport!
There is one thing we can say about Robin Williams; “Great is he who reminds you of no other”. There will definitely not be another Robin Williams – he was the one and only.
There is an old saying that when you laugh the world laughs with you, but when you cry you cry alone… Good night Robin.
