A German Heritage

Germany, a land rich in culture, has produced incredibly talented people throughout the centuries. As Western Europe’s richest and most populous country, Germany remains a key to the European economic and political scene.

The Germans and their Austrian and Swiss neighbors are often the victims of the stereotyping and misconceptions, mostly due to the horrific events during Hitler’s reign and the aftermath of World War II.

The German culture, however, is versatile and complex. The country has given birth to such world-wide influential talents as scientist Albert Einstein, composer/pianist Johann Sebastian Bach, philosopher Karl Marx, Nobel Peace prize winner Henry Kissinger, fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, fashion photographer Helmut Newton, renowned entertainer Marlene Dietrich, supermodel Claudia Schiffer and last, but certainly not least, the world’s most famous magicians…Siegfried & Roy.

Germany is a land filled with castles and palaces. It is also a land of magical cities…Cologne, Dresden, Frankfurt and Munich. The country’s most famous city, and capitol, Berlin, is home to three opera houses, two concert halls and eight symphony orchestras. It is a country filled with superlatives, rich history and culture.

Taking all this into account, it isn’t surprising Siegfried & Roy hail from this wonderful country. Born and raised in Germany, Siegfried & Roy, knowing the borders of their homeland would not allow the recognition they wanted in magic, set out to conquer the world.

After performing ten years in Switzerland, Paris, Madrid and Monte Carlo, Siegfried & Roy made Las Vegas their home. “Siegfried and I grew with Las Vegas and Las Vegas grew with us. Las Vegas and Siegfried & Roy are the perfect team,” says Roy.

The two magicians, with German determination, came to America to make their mark. They began with nothing but hopes and dreams. The followed their hearts and their far-reaching dreams to establish box-office records, thrill thousands of people yearly and garner every major award in the art of magic.

Their peers in the world of magic named them Magicians of the Century and in the animal world they’re know as the men who gave back to the world the beauty and magic of the Royal White Tigers and Magical White Lions.

German discipline and confidence got them through it all. “We fervently believe that no matter where you come from or how hard your live has been, you have the power to take your fantasies and make them real,” notes Siegfried. “It takes belief, effort, honesty and courage…nothing is impossible.”

Siegfried & Roy succeeded because they never lost hope. In the end, their stubbornness was rewarded. With their pockets filled with countless honors, recognition and awards, millions of fans and a fantastic career, Siegfried & Roy still look at each day as a challenge, filled with possibilities and dreams.
